CISSP Training Maryland

Sponsored by the Academy of Computer EducationCISSP, or Certified Information System Security Professional, is one of the most highly-regarded certifications in the IT/Security industry. CISSP was developed by the International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium (ISC). In addition, government affiliates like the Department of Justice endorse this certification as a prerequisite for many jobs within the information security arm of the Department; it is also fully-compliant with the Department of Justice’s DoD8570 directive. Finally, CISSP professionals, on average, have the highest annual income of virtually any certified IT professional.

There are certain prerequisites required to enter into the prestigious CISSP training program in Maryland. Those interested should have experience in at least two of the following areas:

  • Cryptography
  • Application Development Security
  • Security Operations
  • Legal and Regulations; Compliance and Investigations
  • Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity
  • Physical Security
  • Telecommunications/Network Security

There are still options for those who lack the relevant experience or expertise. One of them includes the Associate of ISC/2; passing this CISSP exam can pave the way to full-CISSP certification.

Students cover aspects of all of the aforementioned experience areas, as well as applications and systems development, access control systems and methodology, and security architecture and models. The course is 40 hours long and combines hands-on labs, theory, and group discussions.

Equally important to many students is the fact that CISSP is 8570 compliant via the Department of Defense’s Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program directive. This is a requirement of the DoD that states that all Information Assurance staff must become certified with an associated Security certification in information technology. Different 8570-compliance levels include the Network+, Security+, and A+ certifications.
